We are now at the most critical stage in our opposition to the colossal East Park solar complex. Soon, we will all have an opportunity to register as ‘Interested Parties’ and submit our objections to the Planning Inspectorate for the project, with the reference EN010141. Here’s what you can do right now.
- Sign up for updates on the Planning Inspectorate portal. You’ll find the ‘Get updates’ option in the ‘Project information’ section on the left hand of the East Park Energy page. This will help keep you in the loop on the project, but remember it is not the same as registering as an Interested Party
- Register on this website as a campaign supporter (if you haven’t already done so – if you get campaign emails, you’re signed up!). We will be keeping our hundreds of supporters up to date on critical actions and deadlines
- Start drafting your objection and the points you’d like to make, so that you’ll be ready when the registration window opens and you can register as an Interested Party. If you submitted concerns during the statutory consultation last year, check the final application to see whether the developer has taken the issues you raised on board – if not, remember to point that out in your objections. We recommend setting out your objections in a series of bullet points so that the key issues you are concerned about stand out. You will need to include ALL the issues you want to raise at this point
- Remind yourself of the main issues with the solar site proposal – read the ‘Why stop East Park Energy’ page and look into how poorly solar power performs in the UK climate. You can also find out more at our village helpdesks (see below)
- Watch out for the Interested Party registration window opening. This is down to the developer, and can be at any time – it could be within the next few days, or the next few weeks. The developer should be letting the community know, and if you have signed up for updates on the Planning Inspectorate project page you should get a notification direct. If you are signed up on this website as a supporter, we will also be letting you know when the registration and submission period has started. It’s important to be ready to act
- Keep an eye out for the series of village helpdesks we will be running once the Interested Party registration window opens – members of the Stop East Park Energy campaign team will be on hand if you need help registering, or need more information on the application or background information on the many issues with this enormous industrial installation proposal. If you are signed up on this website as a supporter, we will be letting you know about the helpdesks
- Spread the word with friends and neighbours and encourage them to sign up on the Planning Inspectorate portal and this website. It’s important that as many people as possible submit their objections
